In the legal profession, where the billable hour is still the sacred cow, it is unfortunately unavoidable that a client will occasionally question the time billed to a particular matter. When this happens I usually can provide some perspective to whatever time is in question. I also explain that I invariably spend a lot more time on a particular matter than actually gets billed. The truth is, the attorneys and staff in our office are very conservative in our billing (too much so, really). Nonetheless, this great article demonstrates that apparently some attorney aren’t so cautious! There have been long days where I have billed a good many hours, but I’d love to know how one goes about billing more than 24 in a day!
